Join us for three powerful days of reflection, celebration, and connection at the 2026 Juneteenth Celebration at Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park! This multi-day event honors the legacy of freedom and invites the entire community to gather, learn, and celebrate where freedom began.
Thursday, June 11

Naych and B’uhds: Celebrating Our Connection to Nature
A joyful exploration of nature through a cultural lens. Families, nature-lovers, and curious minds are invited to experience guided walks, storytelling, crafts, and birding activities that highlight the Lowcountry’s natural beauty and historic ties to the land.

Juneteenth Celebration Sleepover
Spend the night under the stars during this one-of-a-kind overnight experience. Guests will participate in guided storytelling, shared meals, reflection, and community dialogue rooted in the story of Mitchelville and the journey to freedom.

Children’s Day
A special day just for kids! Families are invited to enjoy music, hands-on activities, interactive performances, games, and storytelling—all designed to inspire and educate young minds about heritage, history, and joy.

Juneteenth Celebration Drum Circle
Kick off the evening with rhythm, movement, and community during our spirited drum circle. Featuring live drumming, a traditional libation ceremony, and space for dancing, connection, and reflection.

Juneteenth Celebration Festival
The highlight of the weekend! Join us for a day-long celebration featuring:
- Live music and performances
- Local vendors and artists
- Food trucks and traditional Gullah cuisine
- Community storytelling
- Dance contests, youth performances, and more
Bring your chairs, umbrellas, and picnic blankets—come early and stay all day as we gather on sacred ground to honor the past and celebrate the present.
